training at the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. Attorney
Stevens obtained notable reversals of DWI convictions in the reported decisions
of State v. Duffy (New Hampshire
Supreme Court, reversing conviction for DWI due to violation of the defendant’s
Miranda rights) and Commonwealth v.
Ouellette (Massachusetts Appeals Court, 2003, reversing conviction for
OUI-third offense due to violation of the defendant’s due process rights during
jury selection). In 2006 he obtained a reversal in the Massachusetts Appeals
Court of a probation violation for failure to submit to random drug testing in
the case of Commonwealth v. Edgerly. He
successfully argued in the New Hampshire Supreme Court and obtained a reversal
of a DWI conviction where the defendant had pleaded guilty but the defendant
was unaware of the consequences of his conviction in the case of State v. Sharkey. New
